Shanti Plants - The Earth Provides

Slow drip irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone of healthy garden plants, with organic mulch helping retain soil moisture while remaining clear of plant stems.

Plants need water, but roots also need oxygen. Good watering replaces water in the active root zone without keeping unsuitable soils saturated. Mulch can reduce evaporation, moderate temperature and protect the surface, but depth, material and distance from stems must suit the plant and climate.

Coverage and Evidence

Water needs vary with species, size, root depth, soil, container, weather and growth stage. Wilting can result from drought, heat, damaged roots or waterlogging. Automated schedules must be checked against actual soil moisture and rainfall. Keep mulch away from trunks and crowns, avoid contaminated materials and consider local fire, termite and flood conditions.
