Plant health reflects the interaction between genetics, roots, soil, water, climate, nutrition, pests, disease and care. Similar symptoms can have different causes: yellow leaves may relate to normal ageing, root stress, pH, nutrient supply, water, temperature, pests or pathogens.

Coverage and Evidence

Do not diagnose from one photograph or one symptom. Record timing, weather, recent treatments, irrigation, soil condition and which plants are affected. Avoid applying fertiliser or pesticide until the likely cause and label suitability are established. Isolate suspicious plant material and report unusual or exotic pest signs through the relevant Australian plant-health pathway.
